What were the crowds like there? I've heard that it can get pretty congested.

Didn't get to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, but one day I will!Crowds weren't that bad because we didn't stop at the skywalks where all the tourists go. We were dropped off at Mather Point, and then had to hike the trail a few miles to Bright Angel Lodge. As you can see from the pics, I had the Grand Canyon to myself on numerous occasions.As for being warmer than San Francisco, let's just say that San Fran didn't raise the bar too high in that regard!
